NORTH ATLANTIC HURRICANE TRACKS FOR 1999
Many north Atlantic hurricanes start off west Africa, for example Cindy (orange) and Gert (purple). Most of these will curve northward and avoid or graze the USA, such as Floyd (yellow). Others originate in the Caribbean (Irene) or in the Gulf of Mexico (Bret).
Note that T.S means Tropical Storm and applies to storms with winds below 74 mph.
