A SPECTACULAR SPIRAL GALAXY IN PLAN VIEW (ESO 269-57)

This spectacular galaxy is part of a cluster of galaxies in the constellation Centaurus in the skies of the Southern Hemisphere.

The galaxy has an inner yellow ring of several tightly wound spiral arms, surrounded by two blue outer arms.

The distance from Earth is 155 million light years and the galaxies diameter is 200,000 light years.

Look for elongated fuzzy objects in the background to this picture, these are other galaxies.
